MUMBAI: India’s preparations for next year’s World Cup have begun in earnest with their head coach Ravi Shastri has made it clear that there will not be further ‘chopping and changing’ with the ODI side before the opening World Cup game against South Africa on June 5.
“Chopping, changing over now, rest period over. Now is the time to really get focused, play as a unit.“And hopefully not have too many injuries where we have to look elsewhere and take it from there Ravi Shastri said.
In the 13 ODIs leading up to the World Cup, however, Shastri said India would stick with a smaller group. India’s top players will then be involved in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament before the World Cup begins on May 30 in England. Speaking at the pre-departure press conference ahead of the Australian tour, Shastri said, “We will try to play (those) 15, who will go to the World Cup.
