Passengers bleed mid-air as crew forgets to maintain cabin pressure in Jet Airways

NEW DELHI: A Jet Airways flight bound for Jaipur had to turn back to Mumbai as several passengers suffered nose and ear bleeding after the attending crew forgot to maintain cabin pressure.

The 9W 697 Mumbai-Jaipur flight was turned back to Mumbai after take off as, during the climb, crew forgot to select switch to maintain cabin pressure. 166 passengers on board, 30 are affected by nose and ear bleeding and some are complaining of headache,” said the official.

During climb, the crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which cabin pressurisation could not be maintained. In a statement, Jet Airways expressed regret and said its cockpit crew had been “taken off scheduled duties pending investigations.
