Right-wing outfits close 400 meat shops in Gurgaon during Navaratri

GURUGRAM: Hindu organisations, including the Shiv Sena, allegedly shut down Over 500 meat and chicken shops  at different locations in Gurugram demanding that they remain closed during Navaratri.Around 300 members then started a march for the closure of the shops.

The workers of right wing assembled at Palam Vihar and forced shut down of meat markets in Surat Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Sector 5 and 9, Pataudi Chowk, Jacobpura, Sadar Bazaar, Khandsa Anaj Mandi, bus stand, DLF area, Sohna and Sector 14 market.

Ritu Raj, the state president of a group which calls itself the ‘Hindu Sena’ said, “The Hindu organisations will continue their effort throughout Navratri. The next target is new Gurgaon where there are a large number of meat shops.”

We had on Tuesday served a memorandum to Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh demanding shutting down of raw meat shops for the next 9 days but the administration did not direct the meat shop owners to shut down,” Raj said.

No one is authorised to take law into his own hands.”We have arrested four leaders of Hindu organisations during the march. An FIR has been registered against them,” said Subhash Bokan, PRO of Gurugram police.
