NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team have announced a 13-member squad for the second Test against Australia in which India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and batsman Rohit Sharma have been ruled out. Ashwin suffered a left-side abdominal strain, while Rohit jarred his back in the field during the first Test.
Pacer Umesh Yadav, all-rounders Hanuma Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja were included in the 13-man squad but we will have to wait and see if they are given a chance to play. Prithvi Shaw is also recovering well from his left ankle injury but still undergoing treatment.
India lead the four-match series 1-0 after their 31-run victory over the hosts at the Adelaide Oval on Monday. Ashwin has a left-sided abdominal strain. He is receiving treatment at the moment. He has been ruled out of the second Test,” a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said.
